I am a retired Army Nurse with decades of experience to include a short period in the ER and two years of Hospital Supervision. Anyone who knows me from the clinical environment (and fam/friends) knows that I am a staunch patient advocate and have high expectations r/t any care rendered by anyone that is a health care deliverer. This includes customer service AND quality of the actual care I received ER care in Sioux Falls, late 2017. The first time, I was in moderate pain. The staff was outstanding from the moment I arrived, until I picked up my meds and departed. I observed how they interacted with the other patients. I asked patients how they liked the care. The response was very positive. My observations, impressive. The 2nd visit, was a week later for the same issue. I was in moderate to severe pain. The doctor saw my distress and sped up my care by taking me to a room an starting the assessment prior to the nurse’s arrival. I was pleasantly shocked that a doctor would be so kind and diligent. Each time I yelled in pain, he was reassuring. Again, my care was outstanding. The provider ordered appropriate tests. I Received test, results and care in a timely manner. Radiology was awesome too! I read a couple negative remarks. If staff come out to the waiting area to talk with a patient, that is proactive and in the best interest of the patient. Hopefully they will remember privacy. But the goal is to ensure no patient is in the waiting room with a possible MI, Stroke, Blood Clot/Embolism, Aneurysm ETC. if someone is rude, tell them, your perception. They need to know! Blessings.

This place is fantastic, my go to place for all my medical needs. The VA is the greatest organization, don't let what you hear on the news make you think differently.

Always a great place to visit with timely appointments. The staff is great and have always taken care of my needs. We are very lucky to have the caring staff that we do at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. I would give them more than 5 stars of I could.
