I was kicked out of this program and didn't complete it at 100%...why? Well I'm gay and extremely opinionated. I spoke up about favoritism issues from some of the staff that was there at the time, I spoke up about the homophobia.. I just spoke up. They don't like that. The person I was accused of being inappropriate with was truly just my friend. They already knew I was gay and had addressed it at a house mtg but then when said friend of mine laid HER head on MY shoulder and I stroked her hair 2 maybe 3 times on when she was upset... That was it. I was reamed out for having no boundaries and the staff had a mtg to decide what to do next. Some of the staff told me to write w letter to the Director in order to advocate for myself... It was pointless. Now I may sound like one who hates this program but I'm not. I highly disagree with some of their views and methods BUT there is a lot that I took away from their program that I am grateful for. I hope they learn to be less hypocritical as individuals so that others like me can complete 100%

I entered Evergreen on 8/24/18. I had a ton of problems and did not think I was able to change. I heard from staff and friends that I was a "hot mess" There were many days that I wanted to give up and leave. I had a major attitude and was very defiant. Over time people were noticing my change and that also brought it to my attention. Evergreen is a structured program and a hard one to complete. If you are ready to surrender I highly recommend this program. All staff is amazing and caring. But you have to learn to take constructive criticism, surrender to your addiction and change whatever is needed. The best thing I learned at evergreen was how to get through a bad day without picking up amongst a lot of others. I found an amazing sponsor and supports and utilize them regularly. I also have learned how to have healthy relationships with people in recovery and to maintain them in a genuine mannor. I know I would not be as far as I am today without that half-way house. I completed on 1/16/19 at 100% and have a new outlook and passion for life. If your truly ready to surrender to your addiction and change your ways this is the place. Sincerely, Lisa Strawser. 😀😇

I graduated here in November 2017 I spent 4 months in this halfway house and it helped my whole life and everything around it I am very thankful fortunate to be able to experience the evergreen house and I would highly recommend anyone who struggles with addiction that's a female to give it a try. It is very structured just a fair warning but that's what you need when you struggle with addiction.
