I never had an issue until UPMC took over, and still not many problems. Stairways was a nightmare - they drugged everyone until they drooled. And were nasty with me over several meds that were making me sick. Never had those issues with SH. Only issue I've had is that medicare is particular and that therapists and docs leave for better jobs. Any where you go that's not a private practice you are going to have these issues. Period. Its not necessarily SH, just that they don't pay people much because medicare/medicaid doesn't pay for stuff its supposed to. Anywhere you have to be proactive about things. If you don't understand something you gotta ask, they can't read your mind, they don't know what you want to know if you don't ask. You have to do research on meds and modalities and watch for side effects when you take meds. Its not perfect by any means, but without private insurance or willingness to go to a private practice (many of which accept medicare/medicaid you can call them and ask), this is the best option. My biggest issue turned out to be directly related to my bcm through LakeShore. Idk if they have any good bcms, but the 4 I had all sucked. One of them I never even saw. They did more to screw up my case than I ever could've done on my own. I wish I hadn't gone through LS because it caused me so many problems.
