This place has the most caring staff I've ever seen. They truly have REAL empathy and so much compassion for their work. Many, many staff have been there for 20, 30, 40 years. This is one of the oldest, best, psychiatric hospitals in the country.

I had been in two other treatment centers before coming to Silver Hill, one being hazelden betty ford in minnesota, I was being wrongly treated for almost six months. I was admitted into the acute hospital center at Silver Hill and spent two weeks detoxing and while being put on new drugs to help me. I believe there was 32 beds and felt that their was twice as many staff. I felt very secure and that they ran many tests almost every day for two weeks to make sure that I was at the correct level for medication. Once I was stable I was able to attend the DBT house. There was maybe 10 or 12 adults in the house ranging from 18 to 60+ in age. It seemed that everyone came from a decent amount of money to be at silver hill. I attended about 5 years ago, right before insurances had to help in mental health. The acute care was about 1500 per day. and the 28 day program for DBT was 30,000 dollars. It was the best money that could have been spent on my life. I can truly say that I would not be here without silver hill hospital. They have so much staff willing to help out, listen and give advice. There were many group activities and the DBT house had many classroom hours where I learned many steps and strategies to help out my day to day life. I still use them to this day. I never stayed at the main house which can house about 90 people. But the overall campus was beautiful, set on a large acre plot, rolling green hills and large trees to make it feel extremely secluded. A nice small stream rolls through the campus as well. The food was so good that I was even able to gain some weight while I was at Silver Hill. Sometimes I think I should just swing back for some refresher courses. I also made plenty of friends, have added them on Facebook and get to congratulate them on milestones as they continue to live happy, successful lives. This is a top notch place that I was recommend to anyone who struggles with addiction, dual diagnosis, or many other disorders that they are struggling in life.
