I joined Arvada Counselling after I received a DUI. I came into the program with an open mind as I didn't know how this was going to go for me. I was a bit thrown off with how this program was run. It is very dry on the education side. Reading out of the assigned book is very dry and sometimes taxing. Since they understand this they do a lot to ensure you are able to work in small groups to understand the material and get the full grasp of the education material. Tom works hard to ensure that it is as enjoyable and painless as possible. If you work hard to better your position and circumstance you will thrive and you will have a better outcome. When you move into the Therapy side with this organization everything becomes way better. It is a lot more interactive and you really connect with the group members. The Staff does a great job facilitating and leading us down the path for a better future outcome. Tom has a great approach for helping us understand our patterned behaviors and how to change them. He is understanding and goes out of his way to really accommodate important circumstances and works hard to ensure the success of each individual that walks into his office. Sandra, Tom's wife, is in charge of records for each person that comes into the office. At first the organization was a bit disorganized. There was not a way to get a good account for classes that you have attended and to ensure that your numbers matched theirs. Sandra and Tom put in a lot of extra hours and hard work to get this issue corrected. Sandra is very good at keeping things updated and organized. They really take a lot of pride in the work they do and in helping others. It is difficult for them, a lot of time, because people just go through the motions and are there because of a situation they put themselves into. You get out of the this what you put into it. They will really go out of their way to help you out in many important circumstances. I have seen many people come into the classes just to check the boxes. It is unfortunate because this affects how the interaction of the classes go. We are all human and we make mistakes. If you put in the work to make the best of this your classes will seem shorter and you will learn a lot about yourself and the members in your group. Thank You Arvada Counseling for your help and for making this experience more than enjoyable. I wish you the best success in helping others. You truly make a difference!!!!

Can't believe that my treatment worked! Not to say that having one DUI is not a big deal, trust me it is, the courts, probation, court costs, lawyer, and more, it added up to 10k. All I can say is that I sure got a lot from my treatment program. I'm sure I'll not be back, and a Big Thanks to Tom and Sandra, & Dana, you were all really great! -wendy

The owners Tom and Sandra are awesome. Their groups are very down to earth and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. I found our groups to fly by and always left with positive energy and great ideas. I would definitely recommend Arvada Counseling to anyone who may have a DUI or just need someone to talk to. Tom was great.

I was very lucky to find Arvada Counseling Center, and such an amazing staff that truly took the time to find out what I wanted from treatment. Never having been in trouble, like this DUI, right from the start everyone spent time with me explaining the entire process. Being in trouble, being in the system is not fun, and I hope that anyone that made the decision to drink too much, like me, finds this place. I'm not a big fan of "airing" my laundry with anyone, but both of my therapists allowed me to vent and then guided me into positive and constructive change, for me. After 9-months of treatment, I'm grateful and must say that I will come by and say hello, as Tom asked me to do at my discharge appointment. He also told me that I could come back to treatment as an "alumni" at a reduced cost, if I started to get off track again, but, I think I'm done with drinking, and for sure, the drinking and driving part.
