The nurses in the ER seemed to be more into conversations with each other than with helping my newborn and I feel comfortable. once room was available those nurses seemed better but still struggled with simple tasks they should have done many times before. Janitorial staff was inconsiderate, quiet (barely audible) knock on the door and next thing I know staring at some stranger while I’m trying to pump breast milk. Maybe next experience will be different

I just wanted to give a quick "shout-out" to the doctors, nurses, and supporting staff in the "L & D" unit. For those of you that are unfamiliar, that's the "Labor & Delivery Unit. I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the work these doctors, and nurses do during their shifts. On the night of October 18, 2019, at 9:50 EDT, I was privileged to witness their work in action, as they helped my daughter deliver a healthy baby boy - "Legend". I know there are some who would say that this is routine for them, as per their job descriptions, but to see them in action, as they worked, and helped to calm my daughter, who was both scared, and nervous, during the entire process is, in itself a testament to the dedication of these professionals, who do their jobs tirelessly, time, and time again! In addition, many of the team's members were/are also mothers themselves, so they were able to understand the anguish, and concern my daughter was experiencing during the whole procedure. So, on behalf of my daughter, and grandson, I just wanted to say to the ENTIRE TEAM "You guys ROCK!!!" And, a SPECIAL shout-out to a really special gal, Michelle, who was the anesthesiologist on duty for her delivery. She made sure my daughter was both comfortable, and pain-free during the surgery. She was also holding my "Babygurl's" hand from beginning to end , while also making sure WE BOTH were calm through the whole delivery. She even helped with the first pictures! Guys KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO- Hampton Roads, and Norfolk BOTH need, and appreciate you all! God Bless you all as you continue to do the PHENOMENAL work you do! Thank you soooo much! ... A Grateful Grandpa

The experience here with my son was pretty good. The nurses were very attentive and always made sure we had everything we needed. They stocked us up on diapers, and when we ran out of formula, they stocked us up on that as well. They were all gentle and caring, and ensured we had all of the information we needed. My son was hospitalized for almost 3 days and we had several different nurses/doctors. Each one was fantastic. Even the woman who came in to clean the rooms (Sabrina?) was fantastic and was just the kindest person you could meet. I would absolutely bring my children to this hospital again, just not the ER department. The ER department is not as efficient, however has a separate review platform.
