Both of my children are seen here by a social worker and a nurse practitioner (for meds.) We love them both. Sarah and Lee have been amazing for the kids. One child sees them both, the other only sees Sarah. My older child had seen many counselors and social workers over the years and Sarah is by far the best. She really knows how to communicate with kids. The only reason for 4 stars is because the Utica office can be super sketchy. We generally go to the Rome location which is much nicer and in a better area.

They usually go by their acronym CHBS (pronounced “chubs”). They have services available for people that may need translation, they accept Medicaid, they have at least one CASAC worker (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor), they send text alerts to remind me of my upcoming appointments (that comes in VERY handy for me because of Medicaid Transport and that I have a memory problem), etc. My therapist is great. She’s smart, she laughs at my jokes, she somehow remembers everything about me from one appointment to another, she honestly seems to care, she asks me probing questions to get me off track (a good thing) so that I’m not just talking AT her for the whole appointment, etc. I see an APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) who does my meds. It’s great having both of them in the same practice because it improves continuity of care. And he’s very smart, no BS, understanding, listens to me rather than just writing scripts and getting me out the door, etc. The reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because of the waiting room. It makes me anxious being there, or even standing outside to smoke or wait for my ride with all the traffic (foot and cars on Genessee St), and almost every time I’m outside for more than 5 minutes there’s someone asking me for a cigarette who is just walking by. The waiting room is also all windows, floor to ceiling, facing Genessee St, which also makes me anxious. The entire physical appearance of the place, both inside and out, doesn’t do justice for the quality of care they provide.

My son always gets great care here, we think the world of Lee and it is great that they do Saturday appointments since I work M-F. The only complaint I ever have is that it is sometimes hard to get a hold of anyone when you call in, you usually have to leave a message and wait to get a call back, rarely do you get someone on the phone when you call.
