Black Bear Lodge

My mother came here after going to 5 other facilities in a 6 month time period. The other treatment centers claimed to offer dual treatment programs for both addiction and mental health needs which turned out not to be the case. Black Bear was the first and only treatment center where she received the experienced and loving care she needed which helped her heal from her addiction and her mental health issues. Added benefit - it is in a beautiful lodge with amazing views of nature.

The program, accommodations, setting, and meals at this place are amazing! What makes it an even better experience is the staff and the connection you will make with others that are experiencing similar issues. Their outpatient group therapy program has exceeded my expectations so far. I almost gave Black Bear a four star review. I prefer the advice of my own doctor and flexibility when choosing a therapist. Communication between the office personnel and the RAs needs work. These are my opinions and the overall experience outweighs any of the bad. Here's my breakdown: Nursing-5 stars...all of you are the bomb! Transport-5 stars...Get in! Chef and Staff-5 stars...if you don't like what's on the menu, they will literally cater to your needs. Weekend Instructors/Therapists-5 stars Housekeeping-5 stars...spotless living arrangements. Activities- 5 stars...I lost 5 pounds! AA/NA meetings- 5 stars...the most inspiring that I've attended. Art/Music therapy and Movie/Game nights- 5 stars! My Black Bear family -5 stars!!!

Black Bear was an overall great experience, with helpful, caring and motivated staff. I truly enjoyed my time there and know it was exactly what I needed to do, to change my life. Having said that, the billing aftermath has been a nightmare. I continuously get astronomical bills (after being told I was paid in full before I left), and then extremely delayed response times in how to proceed. The fact this is still an issue nearly three months after I left the program, is disheartening to say the least. I wish I had a final bill, paid it, and no longer had to be reminded of why I went in the first place.

I was there 105 days. And at first I hated the place. But as time went on I realized it was not Black Bear that I hated it was who I had become. And I hated change. It was a tough program that challenged me. There is nothing easy about getting sober. But the people at BBL changed my life. And I can’t thank them enough. If you are looking for a program that takes the easy softer way this program is not for you. If you are looking for a program that makes you reach deep down and take a look at the roots cause of your addiction this program is for you.

Black Bear Lodge has laid the foundation for my sober life. They operate a professional, caring program based on solid recovery principles. They offer excellent care with compassionate staff including Doctors and Therapists. Any recovery program has an element of accountability and individual commitment and Black Bear guides patients with tools to successfully transition to sobriety. I true lifesaver for me.
