I'm a Viet Nam era Vet. I was a Navy Fighter Pilot and an International Airline Captain, so I've spent half my life it seems dealing with Doctors in one way or another. I've hesitated to interact with the VA because of their previously bad reputation, but President Trump claims to have turned things around, so I visited my local VA a few weeks ago. I'm glad I did. Since then I've been scheduled for multiple interviews and a wide variety of tests by the nicest medical staff I've ever encountered. The tests are WAY more comprehensive than those my civilian doctor recommends and I've spent more time being interviewed by VA Doctors in the past month than all my civilian Doctor visits in the past 10 years. Everyone, and I mean everyone, I've met with at the VA seems willing to talk about my various medical conditions for as long as it takes. The VA is very thorough, while my civilian Doctors want to rush out and get to the next patient. Then, in some cases, the VA follows up with a phone call to me just to check on how things are going, especially when I begin taking new medications. My civilian Doctors have never called me and none of them will speak to me when I call them. It turns out that my civilian primary Doctor had me taking medications which seriously conflicted with each other. The good folks at the VA corrected that and now I feel much better than before. They suggested some simple changes in my life style and took me off one medication which causes weight gain and substituted something similar which caused weight loss. In the past three weeks I've lost 15 pounds without feeling deprived. The VA also discovered serious deficiencies in my diet which my civilian Doctor should have noticed, but he did not. The VA recommended some dietary supplements which make me feel healthier. Today I'm going to get a sophisticated CT scan to check for asbestos exposure when I was in the NAVY, something my VA doctor is concerned about but something my civilian doctor won't even discuss. I've got a feeling the folks at the VA are going to significantly extend my life-span and increase the quality of life while they do it. I couldn't be happier.

I have been to this facility twice, and both times, the customer service and care I received was second to none. Everyone I interacted with was extremely polite and helpful. So far I have seen the lab for blood work and my new Primary Care Team in Bravo. Let me say this, Eric, the nurse in Bravo was beyond outstanding. His professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to listen to my issues made me feel at ease. He was awesome...thank you Eric! In addition, Dr. Jimenez took his time with me and answered every question I had without being rushed. He even took time to tell me about many of the medical benefits I was eligible for, but did not know about. I am very glad he is assigned as my primary care physician. The desk clerks I interacted with in the lab, and in the Bravo check-in and check-out sections were fabulous. I was very hesitant to go here for my my care due to the negative reviews, but I must say, so far this is some of the best health care I have ever received.
