I was there between 2015-16. You can easily tell what staff is there for the youth while other staff are there for the paycheck. The staff aren't properly trained(unlike foster parents). I over heard some of the arguments(since they were loud) between the foster youth and staff that they want to run away and the staff would say something like "the door is right there." You shouldn't say that to any kid whether they're bad kids or not. It's not very clean. The only times when they clean good is when they have people visiting to donate to the place. When they do clean they expect the younger kids(6-10) using chemicals which kids at that age should only worry about cleaning up their toys. Also the directer of the place and some of the other workers choose favorites which they shouldn't because the home is for foster youth and for homeless/runaway youth, they should car about everyone. They only pay attention to the youth that are quite and don't cause trouble. If I was the owner of the organization I would pay attention to EVERYONE since I am there for the YOUTH. I hope when I visit group homes when I go to visit there they are a little better then they were, if not then the people I work for will make sure to change up the place.

My brother and I were here in like 1985. We were homeless and our mother took us here while she found work and got us a home to live in. At that time she paid a fee each month for us to be there because we were not in the system. It was nice there the staff was very nice we had bikes to ride, movie nights where a few of us were able to pick out movies at the video place. We had a tutor who came in a couple times a week who had work books and things we could work or or we could get help with regular school work. It was clean safe and secure. We were younger so we lived in the main building but the teenagers lived in separate cottages and we didn’t see them except for outings. We took trips to circus world and at Christmas everyone was given a $25 gift certificate from K-mart and we were aloud in the store before they opened to shop. Back then $25 was a lot. I was always very grateful that there was a place like this we could go to rather then sleep in empty construction sites like we were and there were many times later in life I had wished we could have stayed there where it was safe.
